BMW F 450 GS vs KTM 390 Adventure vs RE Himalayan: Specs compared
BMW F 450 GS has finally made its India debut, stepping into one of the most competitive segments in the market. As BMW’s most affordable adventure motorcycle, it goes up against the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure S. Here’s a quick look at how these models stack up against each other in terms of engine specs and pricing.
Starting with the engine, the BMW stands out for being the only motorcycle here to use a parallel-twin setup. It is powered by a 420 cc, liquid-cooled engine that produces 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm.
The Himalayan 450, on the other hand, gets a larger 452 cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that delivers 40 hp at 8,000 rpm and 40 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The KTM 390 Adventure S sits in between with a 398 cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor producing 46 hp at 8,500 rpm and 39 Nm at 6,500 rpm. All three motorcycles come paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Despite having a smaller engine than the Royal Enfield, the BMW produces the highest power and torque figures among the three. The KTM is not far behind the baby GS in terms of performance.
When it comes to pricing, the BMW F 450 GS is priced between Rs 4.70 lakh and Rs 5.30 lakh, ex-showroom, making it the most expensive option here. The KTM 390 Adventure S is priced at Rs 3.97 lakh, while the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 undercuts both at Rs 3.06 lakh to Rs 3.37 lakh. This makes the Himalayan the most affordable choice by a clear margin.
