The curse of Blue Sapphire: Debunking myths and exploring facts
Blue sapphire, also known as neelam, nila, or nilamani, is a precious gemstone that belongs to the corundum family. It is one of the nine gemstones (navaratna) that are associated with the nine planets (navagraha) in Hindu astrology. Blue sapphire is the gemstone of Saturn (Shani), the planet of karma, justice, and discipline.
Blue sapphire is a beautiful and powerful stone that can bestow many benefits to the wearer, such as wealth, fame, health, longevity, and spiritual growth. However, it is also a stone that can bring misfortune, disaster, and misery if it is not suitable for the person or worn incorrectly. This is why many people in Indian culture have a fear of blue sapphire and its curse.
The curse of blue sapphire is believed to be the result of wearing a defective, impure, or incompatible stone. Some of the signs of a bad blue sapphire are cracks, spots, dullness, or uneven colour. A bad blue sapphire can also be one that does not match the horoscope, zodiac sign, or birth month of the wearer. Wearing such a stone can invite the wrath of Saturn and cause problems such as accidents, illnesses, losses, conflicts, depression, and death.
To avoid the curse of blue sapphire, one must follow certain rules and precautions before wearing it. These include:
·Consulting a qualified astrologer or gemmologist to check the suitability of the stone for the person’s horoscope and personality.
·Choosing a natural, untreated and flawless blue sapphire of good quality and colour. The ideal weight of the stone should be at least 2 carats.
·Wearing the stone in a silver or platinum ring on the middle finger of the right hand. The ring should be engraved with the mantra “Om Sham Shanicharaya Namah” or “Om Praam Preem Praum Sah Shanicharaya Namah''.
·Wearing the ring for the first time on a Saturday, preferably in the evening, after performing a ritual of washing the stone with milk, water, and honey, and offering prayers to Saturn and Lord Shiva.
·Wearing the ring continuously and avoiding removing it frequently. The stone should be cleaned regularly and kept away from heat, chemicals, and negative energies.
