Neelkanti Patekar's comeback after 28 years

She is mostly known as Nana Patekar���s wife but few know that Neelkanti Patekar is an actress as well.
Neelkanti has done television serials and also acted in Sachin Pilgaonkar���s directorial 'Atmavishwas' in 1989. But that was the only feature film she worked on. Now, the actress is making a comeback after 28 years with Neelima Lonari���s upcoming film 'Bernie', which is based on Subhash Bhende���s book 'Jogin'.She will play the mother to the titular character, essayed by Tejaswini Lonari.

Ask what prompted her to take this role and she replies, ���I had read the book long ago and had thought then that someone should make a film on it and cast me as Bernie. I was the right age for that role then. But, when the film is being made, I am the right age to play Bernie���s mother. What attracted me to the role is Neelima���s clarity and the fact that I would get to change the viewers��� perception about me. They still associate me with a simple, shy lady from 'Atmavishwas' but here, I play a completely different avatar of a Catholic woman.���
