Alliance tallies shift across Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Puducherry and Kerala
Counting is underway across four states and the numbers are moving quickly. In Tamil Nadu, where 118 seats mark the majority in a 234-seat house, independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively lead in enough seats to hold a tally of 115, just three short of the majority mark, with 10 seats already decided in their favour. SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 won and 53 leading, while NDA is at 55, all in leads. In West Bengal, BJP has crossed the majority mark of 148 in a 294-seat assembly on the strength of its tally, with 11 seats won and 168 leads adding up to 179. TMC trails with a tally of 106, comprising 2 won and 104 leading. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively lead in 8 seats in West Bengal. In Puducherry, NDA holds a tally of 18 in the 30-seat assembly, having already won 13 and leading in 5 more, crossing the majority mark of 16. SPA has a tally of 5 there, with 2 won and 3 leading. In Kerala, UDF leads the 140-seat assembly with a tally of 87, comprising 68 won and 19 leading, well past the majority mark of 71. LDF has 30 won and 6 leading for a tally of 36, while independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively account for a tally of 17 in Kerala.
